WHO ARE WE?
Here at Channel Women Surf Community (CWSC), the waves bring us together! We are a vibrant, inclusive surf club dedicated to fostering a supportive and welcoming community for surfers of all skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner catching your first wave or a seasoned surfer looking to connect, CWSC offers something for everyone.
Our History…
Channel Women Surf Community (CWSC) began in 2022 when Sindia Sosdian, a passionate surfer, noticed the lack of diversity at Llantwit Major surf break in the Bristol Channel. As often the only woman in the lineup, she decided to take action.
In response, she organised a surf forecasting workshop to share local surf knowledge, introduce diverse wetsuit brands, and build a supportive community for surfers of all backgrounds. The workshop sparked a movement, and soon after, the Channel Women Surf Community was born.
By 2024, CWSC grew into an official Welsh Surfing Federation-sanctioned surf club, now boasting over 50 members, including women, LGBTQ+, NB and allies. The club thrives on creating an inclusive space, with a focus on community-building through workshops, surf socials, and events.
What do we champion?
CWSC is an inclusive surfing club dedicated to fostering community, equity, and diversity in the sport. It serves as a hub for individuals of all backgrounds, particularly Women and LGBTQ+, NB surfers, to connect, learn, and grow.
CWSC champions respectful and sustainable surfing practices, offering workshops, events, and initiatives that empower its members while advocating for greater representation and inclusion within the surfing world.
